Stars’ dogs: they’re just like our dogs! No matter how famous your mom or dad is, a pup is still a pup. One celebrity’s new Labrador puppy proved that fact this week by exhibiting some naughty behavior.
Reese Witherspoon may be an Oscar-winning actress and high-powered businesswoman, but she’s also a mom to both humans and dogs. Recently, Witherspoon adopted a black Lab puppy named Major. In January 2021, the actress shared a photo of Major on Instagram, welcoming him to their family with the hashtag #lovemyLab.
Major joins a French Bulldog sibling, Minnie Pearl, adopted just a few months earlier. Sadly, Major never got to meet Pepper, the family’s other Frenchie, who passed away in October 2020.
Major has certainly made himself at home right away, though. In fact, he’s now gotten a bit too comfortable, Witherspoon recently shared on her Instagram story.
“Good Thing He Is Cute”
An active social media user, Witherspoon offered us a glimpse into her puppy-raising adventures. She posted a video to her story of a couch that had been visibly destroyed in the bottom corner. We’re talking fabric-ripped-open-and-stuffing-pouring-out levels of destroyed. This mess took effort.
Then she panned over to reveal Major, sitting nearby. You can hear the actress asking, “Major, who ate the couch? Who did that? Did you do that?” before the not so subtly guilty dog averts his eyes.
Witherspoon also included a poll (a sticker option on Instagram) and asked her followers to vote: “Does this guy look like the culprit?” The answer choices were either “Umm… yes” or “No doubt he ate the sofa.”
Instagram Stories disappear after 24 hours, but obviously, the internet was on top of getting those screen grabs. That’s how we can all see this classic oh-so-guilty puppy face. Yes, Major has a famous mom, but any non-famous person with dogs can recognize that look in this one’s eyes.
Witherspoon concluded her story with this: “Good thing he is cute.” There’s nothing like the unconditional love of a dog (and some big puppy eyes) to remind you material possessions are just material.
